Photographers Helping Others

Thanks to Michael Albany’s post  on LinkedIn the other day, we’ve had a very fun discussion on Facebook about how to give back as photographers.  (If you didn’t read his post, he’s booked time and space for business portraits for unemployed professionals.)  A friend of mine passed on a great link about  Giving Homeless Families Memories in the form of family portraits, something the homeless frequently lack.  You can donate to this project by contacting Dayna Camp – Dayna@aportraitproject.org.  But NILMDTS is the one that always gets to me.

The Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep foundation provides photos and photographers to parents of stillborn infants at no cost.  These wonderful people drop everything to give back in the most personal way possible.  Every time I think about how hard this would be, I think about how hard it would be for the family to NOT have anything to remember their precious child by.

We all do what we can, when we can.  If you’ve heard of photographers giving back in other ways, please forward me the information so I can include it.

Thanks,
