Our Beloved Olive

SafeHaven Humane Society is hosting a silent auction and art show benefit through Sunday, Mother’s Day, near the food court at the Heritage Mall in Albany. Proceeds will help cover operating expenses at the shelter.

Auction and art show hours are until 9 tonight and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. The silent auction closes at 4 p.m. Sunday, and winners will be called to pick up their art that evening.

Another fundraiser is set in Jefferson throughout the month. Troutman Photography is partnering with SafeHaven to raise money for the Greystoke Medical Fund. The studio is offering a free photo session for one 10-by-8-inch photo of a pet for a $25 tax deductible donation to the shelter.

Owners Daniel and Clare Troutman of the studio at 122 S. Main St. have adopted two dogs from SafeHaven.

SafeHaven is a no-kill shelter serving the area since 1986. The agency at 33071 Highway 34 S.E. is supported entirely by donations, adoption fees and fundraising events. Hours are noon to 5 p.m. Saturday through Monday and noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
