Wedding FAQs

Question: How many pictures do you take? Can I provide a list of posed photos for you to take?
Answer:  We usually take 200 images per hour.  You can provide us with a list, but we ask that you try and keep it as short as possible. It’s too easy to get caught up trying to get the right posed images and missing the spontaneous tender moments that take your breath away.

Question: How would you describe your photographic style? What does this mean?
Answer:  We shoot more on the photojournalistic style.  This means more action and less formal, posed images.  We do close-ups on the cake, the dress, the flowers, but we’re more interested in catching your grandfather dancing with your niece than we are shooting every variation of family portrait possible.

Question: How far are you willing to travel? Is there a travel charge?
Answer:  We travel all throughout the Willamette Valley at no charge.  If your wedding is elsewhere, drop us a note, we love to travel.

Question: How quickly will I receive my prints?
Answer:  We supply the engagement photos for review in 2 weeks.  The wedding photos will be available for review 2-3 weeks after the wedding and prints usually take a week after you make your final decisions.

Question: Can we request both that both color and black & white photography be used at the wedding?
Answer:  Of course.  We shoot digital, so either is always available; we usually make a judgment call on which is better for the individual portrait, but you can always have both if you so desire.

Question: Do you bring an assistant to the wedding to help coordinate portraits?
Answer:  Frequently.  It just makes the day run smoother.  Also it helps to have the different genders available to move in and out of the bridal party dressing rooms, for everyone’s comfort.

Question: Can I keep the negatives? the proofs? Is there an extra charge for this service? How much?
Answer:  You are welcome to keep the negatives and the proofs both, but there is an additional charge in most cases.  However, some packages include both in the purchase price.

Question: What kind of equipment will you bring with you? Do you bring backup equipment? lighting?
Answer:  We shoot with Canon cameras.  We bring a backup camera, lens, batteries etc with us to each wedding.  We also bring flash lighting, but we try to only use if in the posed images – it takes too much time to set up and move.

Question: Will you be taking digital photographs? Is there an extra charge for this service?
Answer:  We shoot digital, and there is no extra charge.

Question: Can guests view and order shots on-line? How soon will the photos be put on-line?
Answer:  Yes, guests can both view and order the final images online.  We can also set up proofing galleries for long distance family members.

Question: What is included in your basic wedding packages?
Answer:   Weddings include an in-person consultation with our staff to ensure your comfort and ease with the photographer on your big day.  The initial consultation will include a location discussion and a consultation on what to wear for the Engagement Shoot.  We will also cover the couple’s concerns and the “must attend” events.  The first hour at a wedding costs $250.

Question: What is your event cancellation policy?
Answer:  If in the event you have to cancel or reschedule the ceremony we will first work with you to try to fit your new date into our schedule.  We realize that there is a huge amount of stress involved with a wedding cancelation.  If we are more than six months out from the wedding date and we have not yet shot the engagement photos we will release you from the entire bill.  If the wedding is less than six months away and we can schedule someone into your weekend, we will also refund you your deposit.  Otherwise we will refund you all but one third of your payment.

Question: What are your standard payment terms? How much is the deposit?
Answer:  We require a third of the money when you book your wedding, a third two months from the wedding date and the last third two weeks prior to the ceremony.

Question: Who exactly will be taking pictures at my wedding? Do you use subcontractors?
Answer:  Not unless you request them.  If you desire a second photographer we are happier to hire someone we know and trust to produce the best possible images, rather than have you hire a second photographer we may have not worked with before.

Question: How many months in advance do I need to reserve your services for my wedding date?
Answer:  It’s not uncommon for us to book a wedding 18 months in advance, so the sooner the better!  If your wedding is within the next 90 days give us a call, perhaps we’ve had a cancelation.

(It is our policy to only shoot one wedding a weekend.)
