We have the most loving, supportive, family-friendly, wonderful dog in the world. However, she absolutely HATES having her picture taken. She will hide, she will run away, she will turn her back on you, and otherwise make her displeasure known. If you insist on taking her picture she will mope, pout and hide. Last fall we discovered that the only thing she loves enough to conquer her hatred of the camera is cheese. With CHEESE all things are possible – and thank goodness – because she photographs beautifully. Clare Troutman www.troutmanphoto.com (503)559-3106 (Yes, we do pet photography)
Raising thier grandkids Sorry, my apologies in advance for the following soap-box rant. But while I love Rani and Max for who they are – I truly respect them for what they do. Or in this case, what they are doing. Our friends took in their grand kids last summer (children 2,6 & 7)and are currently raising them without help. Now I say without help, but what I mean is without financial support from the state of Texas. See, Rani’s grand kids are currently wards of another state which means they don’t get help from the state of Oregon, and in Texas, if you’re a relative, you don’t get any help either. So if they took kids in off the street that they weren’t related too, they’d get support. As it is – not so much. It’s a messed up world. Anyway, I realize it’s not about the money, it is about the love, and here’s some pictures to prove it. My apologies for not having a picture of Dicon – I’ll harass Daniel and get one up ASAP. Photographers Helping Others Thanks to Michael Albany’s post on LinkedIn the other day, we’ve had a very fun discussion on Facebook about how to give back as photographers. (If you didn’t read his post, he’s booked time and space for business portraits for unemployed professionals.) A friend of mine passed on a great link about Giving Homeless Families Memories in the form of family portraits, something the homeless frequently lack. You can donate to this project by contacting Dayna Camp – Dayna@aportraitproject.org. But NILMDTS is the one that always gets to me. The Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep foundation provides photos and photographers to parents of stillborn infants at no cost. These wonderful people drop everything to give back in the most personal way possible. Every time I think about how hard this would be, I think about how hard it would be for the family to NOT have anything to remember their precious child by. We all do what we can, when we can. If you’ve heard of photographers giving back in other ways, please forward me the information so I can include it. Thanks, Clare Troutman 503-559-3106 clare@troutmanphoto.com www.TroutmanPhoto.com
